EASTERN REGION RINGETTE ASSOCIATION POLICY ON TRAINING AND CLINICS

The ERRA provides or co-ordinates training for member associations such that coaching staff and on-ice officials may become adequately qualified. This training typically is given at Officiating Levels and Rules clinics for on-ice officials and through Technical and Rules Update clinics for coaches.

The conduct of the officiating and coaching clinics is the responsibility of the Referee-in-Chief and Coaching Co-ordinator respectively. This includes determining annual training needs through consultation with associations, planning and arranging for the resources required (e.g. facilities, instructors, materials), preparing schedules, communicating to members on planned clinics and reporting results to the Region, the O.R.A. and Ringette Canada in the manner each requires.

By August 1, the Referee-in-Chief and Coaching Co-ordinator present their training plans for the upcoming year to the ERRA executive for review and approval. The plans indicate the required budget, schedule, instructors and planned communication with associations’ referees and coaches.

The number, size, location and schedule of clinics should give reasonable access for members while minimizing costs to the Region. Clinic registration fees are set to recover all costs of the clinics and are approved in advance by the ERRA executive. All participants are charged the same registration fee. The Region’s Treasurer invoices associations for the clinic fees and materials provided to their members who attend. Fees and charges for clinic materials are not collected by the instructors.

Eligible expenses of clinic instructors are identified on the attached schedule which may be adjusted periodically by the Region. Immediately following the event, an ERRA Expense Claim, attached to a list indicating attendees and their associations, is submitted to the Treasurer for reimbursement.
