The first week-end of October 1982 was a turning point for Regional Ringette in Ontario.
A very successful meeting was held by the ORA to establish Regional Policies. In attendance were the Board of Directors of ORA and the six Regional Directors. Policies and guidelines to make Regional Ringette really work were developed and established.
1981/82           Prior to 1982/83 There was NO Regional Chair, NO Regional Executive, nor Co-ordinators.
Prior to that, Regions were just geographic dividers established by the Province of Ontario. ORA used them as boundries for teams to participate in Provincial Championships.

1974/75 Ringette Canada is founded in November, 1974 with offices in Ottawa.
In March 1975 the very first Provincial Championships in Ontario were held in Etobicoke, then know as Eringate Ringette.   There were only four regions then. Central/East, North East, Niagara, and the West. Tournament Structure was a "Double Knockout". .   Teams from Eastern and Central Ontario had to compete against each other for the right to attend.
In March 1975 the very first Regional Championships in Ontario were Held.   Teams from Eastern and Central Ontario came to Earl Armstrong Arena in Gloucester to find the top team from those two Regions to attend Provincial Championships in the three age groups that participated in those days... Petites (8 - 10), Tweens (11 - 13) & Belles (14 - 16).   Oshawa completed a clean sweep over Gloucester and Ajax for the right to attend Provincials in all three age groups.
1973/74
1972/73 The Alta Vista Ringette Association (forerunner of the City of Ottawa Ringette Association) was formed.
The Gloucester Ringette Association was formed.
1971/72
1970/71 In December of 1970 a clinic about ringette was held at Algonquin College, with an on ice demonstration at Merivale Arena the next day.   Ottawa (Alta Vista) and Gloucester Representatives attended and came away enthused. In Gloucester they sent flyers to the schools in Blackburn Hamlet. They formed 2 teams of girls ages 9 and 10 to play at Blackburn Public School on the outdoor ice. Edna Oliver & Marjorie MacQuarrie joined the other ladies to help coach the first two Gloucester Teams in existence.  The first Ref's were Fraser Oliver & Doug MacQuarrie. Look at how we have grown. Doug grew up to Referee at Nationals and became Ringette Canada's Technical Director. What happened to Lois? She's still playing for the Blackburn Rockers! And, what happened to Eleanor? If you watched the little Bunnies Play during the Gloucester Tournament, look way up high in the stands... That woman way up there in the back, being so quiet, watching our littlest darlings with this huge grin. That's her!
