NCRRL Novice Seeding Policy

Approved at NCRRL AGM on May 13, 2000

Novice Seeding has been and continues to be a problem every year. The NCRRL approved dividing the Novice season into two schedules at the NCRRL AGM on May 13, 2000. The pre-Christmas schedule will be considered “exhibition” games and a second schedule starting in January with the stats restarted after realignment.

Teams will be seeded in Sept. at Novice B, C1, C2, and Rec.

NCRRL will provide guidelines for the associations to seed their teams but will allow the associations to make the final decision on placement of teams in Sept.

The Novice teams will remain as originally seeded until Christmas. Teams will be expected to play all of their games as scheduled to ensure that there will be sufficient stats to properly reseed in early December

A new season will be started in January for Novice C1, C2, & Rec after realignment.

Requests to review Novice teams’ seeding will be done in writing through the associations’ representatives and will be referred to the Seeding Committee. Decisions on final seeding for the second half will be made by the Seeding Committee.

Note - a shortened exhibition schedule is not possible because:
(1) there are too many logistical problems to schedule Novice Ice in a separate format from the rest of the age divisions.

(2) To “get it right” for the second half we need to have stats from 6 - 8 games ie. early December
