ERRA & NCRRL
POLICY RE SEEDING OF TEAMS
A Committee will be established with responsibility
and authority for seeding of all teams in Eastern Region. (Please
note there is a separate NCRRL Policy
for Seeding Novice teams in the League)
The Seeding Committee will be a five-person
committee to include:
- two members from ERRA (G & T Co-ordinator
and Vice Chair suggested) - two members from NCRRL (Vice
President and Statistician suggested) - one member at large
(this could be a different person for each situation to ensure
no affiliation with the team being evaluated.)
Associations will continue to submit grids
outlining player rosters for each of their teams playing in
the NCRRL at the start of each season. The NCRRL may ask the
Seeding Committee to evaluate any team that, in their opinion,
is seeded at the wrong level. The Seeding Committee may use
the grids, prior year statistics, and/or tournament and exhibition
game scores in their evaluation.
| NCRRL PRE-SEASON SEEDING
The league will support placement
of teams at the C, B, A, and AA levels. In the Novice
Division teams will be seeded at 3 levels - Novice B,
Novice C (2 divisions), and Rec Novice Rec is primarily
for first year players. Exceptions to this rule
for Novice Rec will be allowed - but they must be noted
on the team grid forms with JUSTIFICATION.
Novice teams will again be seeded
in accordance with the Novice Seeding Policy (see web
site) adopted at the AGM in May 2000. Key highlights
are:
- the first half will be treated as an exhibition season,
- teams will be reseeded at a meeting on Dec 3rd
- no changes will be made in any of the divisions until
Christmas
Petite Division: *NEW *
All Petite competitive teams will
be classified as Petite A until Christmas and will play
in the same division in the league. At the December
re-seeding meeting the Petite "competitive" teams will
be divided into A and AA divisions. This is a new policy
adopted by Ontario Ringette for 2002-03.

Notes:
- Exceptions WILL REQUIRE EXHIBITION
GAMES and be referred to the seeding committee
- in the event a division exceeds
10 teams, that division will be divided into pools
- Teams experiencing problems as
the season progresses will be referred to the seeding
committee. Requests must be made in writing, by the
Association's Representative
- Each team must have at least
10 players including the goalie on its roster to be
registered/seeded for league play. A team may play
a league game with a minimum of 6 players, however.
No player can play on more than one team in the
NCRRL - "contracts" apply to Tournament
play only.
- Every effort will be made to
avoid three team divisions. However, three teams seeded
at the same level may constitute a division so please
seed carefully.
|
Associations may also submit requests to
the Committee to review the seeding level of one of their own
teams or a team from another association. Requests from individual
teams, coaches, players or parents will not be accepted.
The Seeding Committee will monitor teams
during the first half of the season and may move a team to a
higher or lower level if it is apparent that the team is incorrectly
seeded. Teams are normally encouraged to strive to play at the
highest level possible.
Any team which disputes its seeding will
be required to play exhibition games against teams selected
by the Seeding Committee.
No changes will be permitted to team seeding
after December 15th of each season.
All teams at the same seeding level, e.g.
Petite A, must play in the same division in the NCRRL, regardless
of whether it is a true division or a combined division.
Any association requesting reseeding of
one of its team to a lower level must present its request to
the ERRA Seeding Committee before submitting it to ORA. The
request must be supported by a full rationale including league
and tournament results.
NOTE: An Association must be advised
if the seeding level of any of its’ teams is being questioned
and have an opportunity to provide input to the Seeding Committee
before a final decision is made.
